Day 8

Another blissful lie in this morning. And it was back to our favourite coffee shop for breakfast

Today we’d decided to go to namdaemun market which was reputed to have over 10,000 stores - seemed unlikely to be that high but according to the travel bloggers it’s worth a visit

Over croissants we worked out how to get there via subway and off we went

When we got there, we realised the hype wasn’t lying

Honestly is was so big you could get lost in there for days

The credit card took a hammering

One high point though was a woman in a cosmetics’ shop deciding Joss needed help with her skin so put what looked like heel cushions for your shoes, under her eyes, right in the middle of the shop

Oh how I laughed

We stopped off in a Moomin cafe half way through the tour of the market - nope I’ve no idea what was going on either

After lunch we decided to go back to Myeongdong and after the briefest of shopping we settled into a new pub

At which point we tried to teach Joss how to order 2 beers, a coke and a water in Korean

I was in tears

The first 10 minutes were like teaching Joey from friends how to speak French

Toute de la fruit

Priceless

She got there in the end though and sounded quite proficient before she went with Kieren back to the hotel as I escorted Hattie around the BTS / k-pop shops

Who knew there’d be so much stuff to choose from

Hattie bought so many “must have”’items I’m sure her right arm is now longer than her left, carrying it back to the hotel

For the evening meal we went to the sports’ bar and shared 2 beef pizzas with 3 fries - Kieren was very pleased with this

Although he disguised it well😂

Joss ordered all of the drinks in Korean and absolutely nailed it 👏

After the food my stomach started to play up but I ordered another round - somewhat less successfully than Joss as the (different) waiter seemed a bit non plussed by my efforts

Then my sister walked into the bar with her workmates

Well it wasn’t actually her, but her Korean doppelgänger

Joss, Hattie and I couldn’t stop looking at her, but alas we couldn’t get close enough for a picture

That was enough for me unfortunately - the mind wanted to stay out but my stomach was very much frowning on the idea so we ended the evening after dinner - we’ve a very early start tomorrow - so maybe it’s for the best .....
