Day 2

The 5:45 alarm was a cruel, cruel moment - we are meant to be on holiday, aren’t we?

A less than restful sleep for a long day but that wasn’t the worst of it - my phone charger broke overnight

What was I just saying about our dependence on this kind of thing ! First world problems

Hattie and Kieren were ready for 6:45 and the easiest of checkouts found the taxi driver waiting for us and we were off the terminal 3

I’m not a big fan of all this self service for baggage etc as I have no-one to blame if it buggers up but everything was smooth as silk and we soon found the bar for breakfast

I was given the smallest knife in history - I obviously don’t look very trustworthy

The breakfast was lovely and we did some shopping for a new charger and treats before finding the correct gate to board

Joss played the “child with disabilities “ card and we got on first

Plenty of selections of films - I chose Bohemian Rhapsody - it was ok but Hattie very much enjoyed the fact that BTS were being shown

I had an empty seat next to me so I was similarly pleased

We arrived in Helsinki and it is lucky we weren’t staying because we haven’t brought the clothes for this type of weather

No tedious queuing in Helsinki so we settled down to a traditional Finnish meal - Burger Kingennsun

Delicious

One last treat was to find a shop where it’s Christmas every day

We took the bus to the plane and the only slight cock up of the whole journey was that I’d booked seats 29 a, b, c and d across the aisle

Unfortunately 29c actually lined up with 30d so I was a bit out on a limb

I almost got an empty seat again but they delayed the flight by 10 minutes so a connecting flight could board

Bugger

At least it was only a small kid next to me - although I might have to do something about his elbows before the night was out .....
