Day 6

We opted for a lie in this morning and all met up at 9 o’clock

I appreciate that this isn’t a huge lie in, but Kieren frowns upon missing breakfast- so we went to a coffee shop for croissants and orange juice

Today was the day we earmarked to go to see one of the universities that Hattie might go to next year and also to buy some books for her for the forthcoming new term

Today was predicted to be the hottest of the time we are here, and it didn’t disappoint

We were glad to get onto the subway, at least that was air conditioned

When we arrived we sought out the university and I have to say, it was pretty impressive

Although the football pitch was a bit shit

The girl in the bookshop was very helpful and Hattie got all the books she needed

We then had a look around the nearby shopping centre before having a “cheeky” KFC for lunch

I wouldn’t like to be an electrician here

We then got on a very crowded subway where joss had to protect Kieren from being pushed aside - safe to say they won’t be trying THAT again....

Back in Myeongdong we went to our little pub - BUT IT WAS CLOSED!!!

Instead we went next door and had a truly expensive beer there

We were offered this as a free bar snack

It was very rubbery.....

We then left to go to other pubs we’d been to before and they were both closed - Seoul can be so uncivilised....

We did however find another pub (it did fill up later)

It followed the same format as the others by having a waiter calling button on the table - lovely

Hattie and Kieren went back to their room to leave us to have a couple more so I tried to track them to make sure they got back ok - but in the whole world it couldn’t find them, but could find Eloise 😂

After a “couple” of beers we went home, got changed and we all went out for the evening to see a show

This is what happens when you’ve had a “couple” of beers, and you see someone trying to take a picture

We were off to see a show called Nanta  - it’s a show that has run continuously for 22 years and has been seen all over the world

It’s set in a kitchen with 4 chefs and a maître-d’ that was non verbal and included comedy, dance, drumming, cooking skills, knife skills, juggling, fighting and audience participation

It was flipping epic

Even Kieren was laughing and marvelling at their dexterity

It was bloody brilliant - I’m just sad that we couldn’t take pictures as none of my words will do it justice

After that we took Kieren to have a burger then the rest of us had street food - I really wanted something on a stick

Then we had this

And I added spicy sauce to all 3 - that caused one of us a “problem” so I made up for my faux pas by getting dessert

All in all, another bloody good day despite the heat - tomorrow’s show has a lot to live up to 😄
